GODZILLA VS GHOST GODZILLA
More than forty years after the death of the original Godzilla, the nuclear leviathan's restless spirit emerges. Slowly the ghost begins to materialize into its former self, which attracts the attention of the present day Godzilla, who wages a war with the specter across Japan.
One of the earliest concepts thrown around for the 22nd Godzilla film, this project, also commonly referred to as "Godzilla vs. Ghost Godzilla", saw the King of the Monsters fight his 1954 "ancestor". The movie was going to go for a more fantasy based approach then previous Godzilla entries, as the 1950's Godzilla was going to be revived as a ghost during the film in order to have him square off with his modern day counterpart. The project was eventually scrapped, though, with director Takao Okawara citing that three movies in a row where Godzilla faces off against monsters that resemble him (Mechagodzilla in 1993, and SpaceGodzilla in 1994) was simply too much.
In terms of supporting cast, it's not known how the Little Godzilla/Godzilla Junior character would have fit into Kazuki Omori's idea for the movie. The screenplay, however, was going to incorporate Anguirus in some capacity, as concept art was commissioned to try and design a "Heisei series version" of the character.
