GODZILLA VS KING KONG (HEISEI)

After the commercial failure of Godzilla Vs Biollante in 1989, it was not until late 1990 that Toho wanted to remake the most successful film of all time, King Kong Vs Godzilla (1962). Toho had projected that the film would be finished to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the first King Kong in 1992. Toho approached Turner Broadcasting, which owns the rights to the character of King Kong, to try to buy the rights to use it for the film. Unfortunately Turner asked too much money for the use of Kong and Toho had to abandon the project. A real shame, it would be interesting to revisit this memorable battle, and no doubt it would have been more appropriate to have the film to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary and Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah (1991) has been done instead.
